Introduction

 

Bafanji is spoken by approximately 17,000 speakers in the North West region of Cameroon.  They inhabit an area on the Ndop plain southwest of Ndop.  This area is part of the Balikumbat subdivision of the Ngo-Ketunjia division.

 

Other names for the language are: Bafangi, Bafanyi, Chufie’, Chuufi, and Nchufie.
 

The language is valued in the home and basic literacy materials in Bafanji are available. Radio programs are popular with the people.  Bible portions were completed in 2014.
